Screw it, final goodbyes

So I’ve changed my mind again. What a suprise that is. I know I said I would do three posts these last two months, but honestly, I don’t want too. So here is everything I need to say.

First of, my goals. Completely smashed them! I feel so ill now though but I did it!! I kind of went overboard, stressed myself out, pushed myself too hard and made my head a little crazy to be in, but I’m back on the other side now. Just recovering from an awful chest infection cold type thing.

I created this blog in March 2015, and I can tell you, I have loved every second of it. Through all of my ups and many downs I have shared on here, I have made some incredible life long internet friends. Some, I want to meet in real life and spoil the hell out of them!

This blog has been my little safe haven. My place where I have been able to grow and never be put down for expressing myself. Each and every one of you mean so much to me in very different ways. Some of you were my very first supporters, some of you are the ones who are bold enough to give me constructive feedback, without wanting to hurt my feelings. Some of you are my little cheerleaders, always pushing me forward, always there to motivate me when I need a kick up the ass and the ones I can cry too if I need too. And all of you, yes all 600+ of you are my family. Without you, this new beginging wouldn’t be possible.

I have had so many amazing opportunities while running this blog, I mean I worked with Clinique for god sake! Never in my life would I have thought that was possible! I have worked with other amazing brands such as propercorn ( who I am still totally obsessed with! Lightly sea salted all the way!!), Toddlebike2 (who have made my cousins playtime so much better!), Malki Dead sea minerals (the one company who has made my skin amazing!) Saint London, (who have georgeous watches ((use my discount code IMAGALAXYGIRLBLOG for 20% off!) And many more.

I’m not going to lie, writing and uploading everyday, sometimes more than once was a struggle, I did rush some content but others on here are my pride and joy. This blog has over 30k views and that is insane!

I have literally grown up infront of your eyes, I’ve gone from a shy little girl who was afraid of the world, to a girl who has opened herself up to the galaxy and has finally accepted who she is. (Hence why I have stuck with the galaxygirl name).

I do love and appreciate every one of you, because lets face it, without you, I would still be that shy girl who is too afraid to stand up for what she believes in.

This new blog and YouTube is going to the best new journey I can take. I have already had my fair share of cries and tantrams over them both, so you know that they are going to be good. If you want to join the team, be a part of the new journey I am taking, then click here to subscribe to my brand new YouTube channel, here to follow my new blog, here to follow my Twitter (leaving hints every day up until the release date!) and here to check out my Instagram. That’s all the links you need right now.

Thank you for the best years of my life, thank you for the valuable lessons you have all taught me and thank you for being such amazing, supportive friends. Love to every one of you, I wish you all the luck for the future. Dream big and reach for those stars because you will soon reach them!

Love you all!

November goals

How are you? I need to address something before I carry on with my post. A few of you have noticed a name change on my social media. You are very observant. I have created a new blog. Yes, you read that right. It would be amazing if you could all head over and follow me. That new blog will have it’s first ever post on January 1st 2018! Natalie had messaged me some words of widsom and she was right, I shouldn’t delete everything, because I did work my arse off on my content. So, instead of deleting everything, I am keeping this blog. It just wont be used anymore. My new blog is please head over and follow me. Share this on your Twitter and Instagram too! Help me reach at least 200 followers before I begin.

Okay, so now that that is done, I want to share with you my November goals.

  • Go to bed before 3am – I have been going to sleep around 3am and then not waking up till gone 12! That’s really not healthy, so my aim to sleep at a normal time.
  • Wake up before 12pm – Obviously! Hopefully I can get my body into the routine of waking up at 8am.
  • Lose some weight – I have been doing so well at this, then after my little wobble, I gained 2 pounds. Now, that isn’t much at all, but I need to loose it and some more too.
  • Get a minimum of 200 followers on my new blog – This blog has over 600 followers and every single one of you are amazing! But I know that realistically, not everyone will follow my new blog. But I am hoping that 200 out of 600+ still want to follow my journey.
  • Do more photography – I’m not sure when I neglected it, but I want to go out and get some new shots. I love uploading them to my photography Instagram page.

Well, that is it. Those are my goals! I will update you on these at the end of the month. Again, here is the link to my new blog I hope to see you all over there!

Lots of love and I will see you soon.

Let’s talk about boobs

How are you? Today I am talking about boobs/tits/whatever you call them. If you find reading the title uncomfortable, please hang in there, this post is rather important.

Boobs, we all have them, yes I am talking about you men too. We hide them away in a bra for 12+ a day, we grope them, we pinch them, we compare them, we complain about them and we love them. You shouldn’t be ashamed of them.

We have saggy boobs, perky boobs, perfectly rounded boobs, wonky boobs, double d boobs and non exsistant boobs. You shouldn’t be ashamed of them.

One person is diagoned with breast cancer every 10 minutes.

Let that just sink in a minute. Every ten minutes, someone is being told they have cancer. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers here in the UK, yet still not everyone is aware of it. So I am here to educate you a little more. B

The three main risk factors of breast cancer:

1. Being a woman – over 99% of new cases of breast cancer are in women.

2. Getting older – more than 80% of breast cancers occur in women over the age of 50. Most men who get breast cancer are over 60.

3. Significant family history – this isn’t common, around 5% of people diagnosed with breast cancer have inherited a faulty BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene.

Breast cancer diagnosis

1 in 8 women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month around5,000 people will be diagnosed.

Survival rates

Breast cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the last forty years in the UK.

Almost nine in 10 women survive breast cancer for five years or more.

Every year around 11,400 people die from breast cancer in the UK.

An estimated 691,000 are alive in the UK after a diagnosis of breast cancer. This is predicted to rise to 840,000 in 2020. For many the overwhelming emotional and physical effects of the disease can be long-lasting.

Breasts and men

Breast cancer in men is very rare with just 390 new cases in the UK each year, compared to nearly 55,000 new cases in women.

More than half (55%) of male breast cancer deaths in the UK are in men aged 75 and over.

A Breast Cancer Care survey found nearly three-quarters (73%) of men don’t check their breasts for signs and symptoms of breast cancer, even though the same number (73%) know that men can get the disease.

Signs and symptoms can be:

  • a change in size or shape
  • a lump or area that feels thicker than the rest of the breast
  • a change in skin texture such as puckering or dimpling (like the skin of an orange)
  • redness or rash on the skin and/or around the nipple
  • your nipple has become inverted (pulled in) or looks different (for example changed its position or shape)
  • liquid that comes from the nipple without squeezing
  • pain in your breast or your armpit that’s there all or almost all of the time
  • a swelling in your armpit or around your collarbone

Many symptoms of breast cancer, such as breast pain or a lump, may in fact be caused by normal breast changes or a benign (not cancer) breast condition. However, if you notice a change, it’s important to see your GP (local doctor) as soon as you can.

How to check

Everyone’s breasts look and feel different. Some people have lumpy breasts, or one breast larger than the other, or breasts that are different shapes. When you check your breasts, try to be aware of any changes that are different for you.

Look at and feel your breasts so you know what’s normal for you

Try to get used to looking at and feeling your breasts regularly – for instance, when you are in the bath or shower, using body lotion or getting dressed. You don’t need to feel your breasts in any special way.

Remember to check all parts of your breasts, your armpits and up to your collarbone.

Not every lump is dangerous

Most breast changes will not be cancer. However, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK so it is important that you find out what’s causing the change.

If your GP is male and you don’t feel comfortable going to see him, you can ask if there’s a female doctor available. You can also ask for a female nurse or member of staff to be present during your examination, or you can take a friend or relative with you.

When your GP examines your breasts they may feel that there is no need for further investigation, they may ask to see you again after a short  time or they may refer you to a breast clinic. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have breast cancer, just that further tests are needed to find out what is going on.

What is my point?

All I am asking is for you to check yourself regularly, go to your gp if you’re concerned, and go if you find any changes. If you are in a relationship, why don’t you get your partner to check? If they dont find anything then who knows what you’ll end up doing, do not be afraid to ask.

Don’t forget your boobs do change during periods, pregnancy ect, so just keep that in mind, I don’t want you thinking you’ve got cancer because your boob decided to release a little bit of milk.

Do take this seriously, as I said, every 10 minutes someone is diagnosed with this. This is not a joke, this is your own knowledge.

Thank you for reading this post. Please do share this around and help make more people aware of not only breast cancer itself but how to check your boobs.

Don’t forget to donate to charities that are fighting to cure cancer, every little helps.

Thats all for me, thank you for your time.

Back to school tips/advice – With Najida

Welcome back. Today I haved teamed up with the amazing Najida from Life as Najida. Make sure you check out her tips and advice post too. I just want to say a huge thank you to Najida for wanting to team up on this post.

Back to school tips

  • Revise as you go along

Urgh what a stupid thing to say Alanna, we have just spent the last year revising for our exams, why do we want to revise more. Well, truth is, as you move up during the school, the teachers do not have to pre-warn you that they are giving you a test. Besides revising as you go along has been proven to help grades rise and makes your brain with hold more information. Come on, who doesn’t want a super smart brain?

  • Get up earlier

As the famous saying goes “the early bird catches the worm”, well from now on, you’re that bird. You will fly those wings of yours, scoop down and pick up that worm. Now, in english, what I am saying is, sleeping in doesn’t achieve anything. Grab the day and make it count.

  • Organised notes

What use is it trying to read notes that look like gibberish? You literally have no idea what you’ve written because you’ve doodled over half the page. How are you going to use that as revision?

Do your best to keep your notes organised. If it helps, do what I did, write all my notes into my school books, then when I got home, I would re-write them into revision pads. I would use a different colour to represent different things. Shorten words down, use diagrams ect, do the things that will help you to understand your lesson.

  • Use your breaks productively

No, I am not saying spend all your time with your head stuffed into a book. Yes, socialise, gossip and eat. What I am suggesting though is, if you aren’t too sure you understood a lesson you had, on your break go and find that teacher, it could be you missed a piece of information or they could offer one-to-one help.

If you want more worksheets to help with revision, go and find the right people or use your break to print some off. You could even hold study groups on a certain day at a certain time for those of you who need some extra help with a subject.

Trust me, doing this does not make you weird or uncool, other people will be jealous and wondering why they didn’t come up with that idea.

  • Set aside an hour or two every week for “me time”

As much as school work dominates the list of important things, having some time away helps too. Whether you’re reading a book for pleasure or having a bubble bath, leaving the notes and the stack of homework is great for your brain. Once you’ve had some time to relax, go back to your school work for 30 minutes and you’ll notice things that you didn’t before. That’s called seeing things with a fresh pair of eyes.

  • Start homework the night it is set

Please, please, please do not do what I did and let your homework stack up and then hand in uncompleted work. For some subjects, homework is just as important as the lessons and the tests. The sooner you get it done, the sooner you are able to enjoy some of your free time. As you get older, you’ realise that teachers expect homework to be in on time, completed to their satisfaction and at the top grade. Most teachers set homework for the next day too, so stop watching TV and move your butt.

  • Procrastination is not key

No, ignore everything I have ever told you about procrastinating. It is an evil thing. Do not waste time checking your socil medias, play just “one more” video on youtube and do not spend time taking selfies/pictures of your unfinished work. This is not a model agency, so get a pen to paper and get that work done.

  • Keep a calendar

This is always a good idea. This literally becomes your life. Note down any/all dates. So you have a half-term coming up, write that on your calendar, so you have an appointment coming up, write it down on your calendar, a social event to go to, write it on your calendar, you have exams coming up, you best be writing it on your calendar!

  • To do lists

These are nearly as important as your calendar. Any time you need to study or work on something, create an organised to-do list. By doing this you will be able to easily see the work you need to do, which makes it easier for you to complete. This also helps to break up those big tasks into smaller ones, making your time used more effectively.

  • Time management

School doesn’t last forever, the effort you put in is the results you get back at the end of the year. Learn how to manage your time according to your timetable and your outside life. Learn how to balance the imporant things like exam practise and a lunch date with a friend. Don’t forget, you are allowed to have a break, don’t cram everything into one sitting, use your to-do list and split it up.

  • Ask questions

Don’t be afraid to ask questions! No-one walks into a class with perfect knowledge of what is being taught, sometimes not even the teachers do. There is no such thing as a “dumb question”, unless you’re asking about things that are not apart of your subject. Chances are, other people are wanting to ask the same question, so take one for the team and help eachother out.

  • Practise questions/exams

This is mainly for studying, but you can do this to help get a grasp on your strengths and weaknesses. You can always find old exams online but if not, ask your teacher, they will be happy to help.

Have fun, take it all in day by day, you’ll spend 6+ hours here 5 days a week for what may seem to you a very long time but trust me, school goes by quickly, you don’t think it but soon you’ll be picking your gcse options, you’ll then be sitting your exams, you’ll then decide whether or not to stay to do a-levels or to go to college. You’ll do your courses and then decide if you want to go to university or not. If you go you then leave and enter the big wide world of jobs and making a living without the back up of teachers, if you don’t go you’re then you’re still entering the big wide world of jobs. Trust me, you’ll thank me later. Every school day is different, you learn more about yourself and your friends, just embrace it and let others embrace it too.

Well that is it for my tips and advice. You can always message me if you need any help with anything. I wish you a wonderful school year, I hope you avoid the drama and just aim for the future.

Sending you postive vibes so you can go out there and smash it.

Stay happy, stay safe and live life as an adventure.

    BTS: The best school bags

Happy Sunday. Who is ready for another week of school? Just think, it’s not that long until term one is over and then you are off to celebrate Halloween.

Most of you have already brought a new school bag, well done you for spending your summer productively. As for the rest of you, I’m guessing you are using last years bag because you simply thought “whats the point of buying a new bag when this one works” well the point of buying a new bag is 1) a girl can never have too many bags and 2) there are some super cute bags out there!

I have found six beautiful bags that I want to share with you. Now before I share them, I would just like to say, I am in no way being paid to sponser these bags, these are my opinions, my top bags and my own post. I am not working with any brands in this post.

Okay so now that we have that out of the way. I want to show you some Cath Kidston bags that I have been obsessing about.

    Bag one:

The first bag I am totally obsessing over is this gorgeous seafoam blue saxham leather backpack from Cath Kidstons backpack range. I love the colour, which is unusual for me considering I am normally a pink or black kind of girl. This bag is a little pricey though costing £125.00 so if you’re one of those people who keep exploded pens, this bag isn’t for you.

    Bag two:

This one is from the Cath Kidston kids collection, but it is still a super cute bag. I’m looking forward to one day sending my kid to school with such a cute bag. This bag is the holland park flower padded rucksack and is currently on sale from £30.00 to £25.00. I would totally grab one if you like it.

    Bag three:

This bag is from Accessorize. It is the COSMIC MARBLE PRINTED BACKPACK. It is currently on sale too! It is £24.50 instead of £30.00. This is totally my style of bag because its something that no one else will have, and I love standing out.

    Bag four

This bag is also from accessorize. Its a gorgeous grown up looking bag. It is the YLON DOUBLE TAB BACKPACK. Again this bag is £24.50 instead of £35.00.

    Bag five

The next bag is from New Look and it is up there in the top five bags I need to buy. It is a gorgeous floral pattern and its just perfect. It looks sophisticated and grown up and would look even better on my back. I am talking about the Pink Digital Floral Printed Velvet Mini Backpack which costs £22.99

    Bag six

This is the final bag, so hopefully this one you’ll love if you’re not too keen on the others. This bag is from New Look again. This bag isn’t anything fancy. Just a plain black backpack. Its called Black Leather-Look Backpack, it really is as simple as that. The best part is, it costs £19.99.

Well there we have it, six gorgeous school bags that you could be wearing. Let me know which one is your favourite, also let me know if you already own one of these bags.

    Thank you for reading.

Stay safe, stay happy and live life as an adventure.

    BTS: Hairstyles + an award

How are you? Are you enjoying school/college? Do you hate work already? Can it really be that bad?

As most of you know, I have taken this month off, I am just finding time for myself, for my family and friends. I have hit a rough spot and for the sake of my sanity, I decided to schedule posts for my usual times this month, but will not be as active on them. I will do my best to reply to comments and things but I won’t be spending much time on my laptop so it could be very irregular. If you have twitter, leave a link to all of your posts that I miss under my pinned post, that way when I am back on October 1st, I will read every one of them.

Anyway, I am not here to talk about me, I am here to share with you some easy back to school hairstyles.

    1. The beach waves. I have already done a post on this one, so click the link and have a read.

    2. Half bun. This is super easy, all you need to do is

    • Half your hair.
    • Use the top half to create a bun. Secure in place with hairband or pins.
    • With the bottom half, straighten or curl.

It is as easy as that.

    3. Ponytail plait. It’s pretty self explained but all you do is.

    • Put your hair into a ponytail.
    • Plait your hair.
    • Secure your plait with a hairband.

It just adds something extra to what would be a boring hairstyle.

    4. Messy milk braid. Yes this sounds complicated but it really isn’t, it’s perfect for those lazy days when you can’t be bothered to do anything.

    • Pull your hair over to one side and make a regular plait, or if you’re feeling fancy, do a fishtail plait.
    • Secure the plait at the end and pull it around the front of your hairline.
    • Then secure it behind your ear and pull out a few layers to make it look perfectly undone.

    See pretty easy!

    5. Fishtail plait. Once you’ve nailed how to do this it becomes a lot easier, but until then it can be a little hard. Either way once completed, a side fishtail plait will look amazing!

    6. Bandana it. Okay so you’ve not washed your hair today, its a little greasy but not too much, your hair is still in a messy bun from last night and you cannot be bothered to undo it and spend so long brushing it. Well, why not add a bandana and make it look like that really messy bun was part of the look the whole time.

There we have it. Six amazing hairstyles. You only need five. Switching it up is always fun within the first two weeks of school, after that you get into the habbit of not bothering as much.

    The award

Now, time for the award. The wonderful Hollie nominated me for. Thank you! Make sure you click the link or cick here to check out Hollie’s blog and her award post. If you don’t already, make sure you give her a follow so you don’t miss any of her amazing posts.

Hollie nominated me for the Blogger Recognition award, so here are the rules:

    The award rules:

      • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
      • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
      • Share two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
      • Choose 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
      • Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them, providing a link to the post you created.

As usual I am not going to nominate people, instead I will leave some advice for you/new bloggers.

    1. Ask for help. If you’re stuck for ideas or something isn’t working the way you want it too, just ask for help. Its better to have a second pair of hands then struggling by yourself.

    2. Be proud of what you write. I have read an article recently slating beauty bloggers, lifestyle bloggers and any bloggers that don’t write about politics/mental health. Write what you love, not what others want you to write! Your blog should represent you, so if you want a marble background and you want to write over 1,000 words on a beauty product, you do that!

    3. Here is an extra piece of advice: Never forget where you came from. You started from the bottom and one point, you only had a few main supporters, so when your blog blows up and you get more followers/ views, remain true to who you are and who your day ones were!

Well that is it. I hope you enjoyed both parts of my post, hopefully they were both helpful.

    Thank you for reading,

Stay safe, stay happy and live life as an adventure.

    WWDML: School horror

It’s the first Wednesday of the month which means I am back with another story time. This one isn’t so great. This one is all about bullies at both of my secondary schools.

Let’s start with my first secondary school. It was honestly the worst. The whole of year 7 I was stuck with two faced straight up bullshitting people. Year eight was the same, until I left and started my second school. I thought secondary school was going to be great, I was going to a new school so I would meet new people. Turns out those new people were the worst kind of people.

I remember one girl in particular. She was the biggest snake and liar I have ever known. Apparently she was my “best friend”, that was until one day I was off school because I was ill. We were messaging eachother and I thought everything was fine. How I was wrong! Turns out the sneaky little bitch had “printed” off our messages but had changed them to make out that I told her I was off school because I was having morning sickness. She was stupid though, because as much as she tried to suck up to the main girl who bullied me, she made a huge mistake. I had every message on my phone. I didn’t print them out, I literally pulled up my phone and showed them to everyone in our meeting. Her face was a picture, my bully didn’t know what to say either. Both of them looked like complete twats.

Safe to say I don’t talk to that girl anymore, as for my bully, they message me every now and then trying to be my friend.

    My second secondary school

This school believe it or not was actually worse. I had four different groups of friends and in the end I was left with one group. I was in with the “second popular group”, these are people who aren’t pretty enough to be number one, but still better then everyone else. I had become close to the main second popular girl, she was honestly like family. Another person in that group became jealous, so jealous in fact, they got their younger sister to spit sweets and shit in my youngest sisters hair. Honestly, you want to start on my family, you’ll see what hell looks like.

Of course I lost my shit, I went absolutely mental! It took 2 boys to push me away and to stop me from punching her in the face. Of course she went crying and I got in trouble, thats always the way with snakey people. She also went back and told the group what had happened and this is when things turnt ugly. I had confided in the “main girl” about some personal family issues and guess what she did, yes she told the rest of the group. They then used that against me and when I went to the teacher about it, again I was the one being told off.

They used the information in a vile way to make themselves look good. It didn’t work because everyone found out their dirty secrets and some of the popular girls even stood up for me. In the end though, they had turned the other groups against me and I was left with about 2 solid friends, and I am friends with them to this day! In fact they came to my party. G & N are the two people that not once believed the shit they spread, even when G and I wern’t friends because I tipped water over her, she still had my back.

The two girls at my second school are still up eachothers arse, but thankfully they are smart enough not to try and message me.

The one thing I learnt through these situations is that everybody is only out to look after theirselves. You have to have your own back, having a huge group of friends isn’t all that its made out to be, its evil and twisted. You’ll learn more through having a group of 3-6 of you then you’ll ever learn in a group of 6+ people because they are the ones who are all competing to beat each other instead of helping each other grow.

I don’t wish any negativity towards these people, they know what they’ve done and they will forever hold that guilt. Just keep rising above people and do not let their jealousy bring you down.

Don’t forget, if you are going through a similar situation, go and tell an adult, do not hide it and bottle it up.

Stay safe, stay happy and live life as an adventure.
